You did not mention how much you can afford for it, so I can only suggest some general to pay attention to. Just look into some tests and comparasions.

- For nature photos, you will need a large range of zooming, 8x optical zoom at least (digital zoom is ruining the image quality).
- Good macro abilities (should have a closepoint of smaller than 10 cm for photohraphing small parts of the nature).
- Quick shutter speed for your daughter's quick movements, 1/2000 sec or 1/4000 sec would be even better.
- At least 6 MegaPixels resolution is recommended to have fine photos.

Do you want a small compact camera, or you do not mind having an SLR (big, heavy and lenses can be changed for different purposes). It's not the SLR what costs a lot, but the additional equipments: lenses, filters, tripod,...

As for me, I have a Canon EOS 350D with 4 lenses (two of them quite big and heavy), I trully love it, but sometimes I need a schoolbag to carry them all. :-) Nikons are also excellent, I have anyway very few experience with them.
References :
I agree that money is a huge factor. If you have the money, go for an SLR - they are made these days simple enough to point and shoot with, or use professionally. You'll be looking at $500-$1200 to start with that though.

I shoot a Nikon D70s - I believe it is being replaced by the D80 right now. It's a fantastic camera!

I am from europea and i never seen a Kodak Digital camera on these shores. Must mean something!

If you check yahoo answers you'll find quite a few problems with Kodak Camera's. Quite a few more then Fujifilm cameras. And then you have Canon or Nikon who are quality seen quite on the top.

I fear that if you buy Kodak Digital Camera's you really buy on the cheap and there have been corners cut on important issues. One of the common issues is Batterij life..something that might was accepted in 2002 but now a digital camera should have a decent battery life.
References :
With Canon, Nikon and Fuji out there why would you even consider this junk? Never, ever base the purchase of a camera or other important item on price alone - not a good idea... you will be disappointed.
References :
Some Kodak camera lines have had extensive problems, of note is the C series. Other series have been ok. Before buying a specific Kodak camera I would check out consumer reviews such as Amazon or this one

All SLR cameras produce great quality images. Your best option is to check the usual suspects of ebay, craig's list and even your local classifieds to find a deal on a used camera. You are just not going to find a new one in that price range, unless you go with film. Olypmus tends to offer better deals from the beginning and you can certainly find people selling off older models with the newer Nikon D90 and Canon EOS 5D Mark II.
References :
Kodak's just kinda low end is all, but not junk. Mostly known for being extremely user friendly first, with quality and features coming second.

They're cheap to begin with. Under $100 isn't that much of a discount.
